Kenya Premier League Side Sofapaka has confirmed the departure of Nine players ahead of the upcoming KPL season.

Among those who have left Batoto Ba Mungu are Striker Stephen Waruru who has since joined KCB FC. Mike Oduor and Pistone Mutamba have joined KPL Moneybags Wazito FC with Cliff Kasuti heading to Bandari fc.

Midfielder Dennis Odhiambo and the Burundian duo of Justin Ndikumana and Moussa Omar have left the club on Mutual consent and have already been granted their release letters.

Meanwhile, striker Umaru Kasumba left after his contract with the club ended and has since joined Zambian outfit Zesco United.

While confirming the exit of the players, Club president Elly Kalekwa thanked them all for their services while giving a special mention to Mousa and Ndikumana.

“I want to thank all the players for the service they have given to the team. They have been exceptional professionals even in the wake of the challenges we have faced and I want to laud them for the great service they have given to the club,” club president Elly Kalekwa has said.

“I am particularly pleased with Justin and Mousa because they were soldiers for the team. They gave their all and fought like this team was their blood and I want to wish them all the best in their future engagements,” he added.

Head Coach John Baraza also thanked the players for their services and wished them well in their future endeavours.

“Football is all about making progress and I feel happy that our players are moving on to greener pastures. As a coach I want to thank them for the service they gave the team especially last season when we finished third. They gave me an easy time as a coach and I would want to wish them all the best in their new career paths,” Said Baraza.

The Club has already initiated plans to get new players to replace the departing ones even us pre-season preparations take shape.

“We have already started engaging with some players and we have progress. We have to build a strong team for the new season because we want to compete for trophies. We will have a foreign coach jetting in this week,” Said Kalekwa.
