Former Gor Mahia midfielder Lawrence Juma reportedly set to dump Sofapaka FC before the new campaign.
The Harambee Stars attacking midfielder joined Sofapaka on a two-year contract deal and has been heavily linked with a move away since last season but opted to stay with the club in the just-concluded 2021/22 season.
In an interview with Mozzart Sport, Juma hinted his desire to leave the club if good offers are tabled for his services.
“We will know about that when the season comes to an end because I am still contracted to Sofapaka but I hope for the best. If anything good comes up, any player would be glad to take up such an opportunity,” Juma told Mozzart Sport.
With Ellie Kalekwa’s side currently without a sponsor after parting ways with BETIKA, the club face a tough time and may see most of its stars leave for greener pastures elsewhere ahead of the new season.
According to a source close to the midfielder as quoted by Mozzart Sport, the former Nzoia Sugar FC and Nakuru All-stars ace has many offers on the table and it’s up to him to decide when to ditch the club.
“He has turned down an opportunity to extend his contract with the club. His contract expires in a few weeks’ time and he will leave the club. A number of clubs both local and foreign have expressed interest in signing him and he will make a decision at the right time.”
The Harambee Stars central defender has attracted a number of local and international clubs who are reaping for his signature according to the source.
