Ulinzi Stars bagged three points in their first game of the season after seeing off KPL newbies Kisumu All Stars at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
After a first half that saw no goals coming from either sides, a rejuvenated Ulinzi Stars scored two goals in the second half courtesy of Enosh Ochieng who picked up from where he left last season. Ochieng got his first goal in the 46th minute after Kisumu All Stars goalkeeper spilled a shot from Elvis Nandwa with Ochieng scoring from close range.
He then got his second 4 minutes later when he headed a Oscar Wamalwa cross into the net to give Ulinzi a two goal cushion against the Kisumu based side. Enosh had a chance to hit his third but was denied by by the hosts who got the ball out of the danger area. He was later on replaced in the 80th minute with Kelvin Thairu coming on to make his debut for the Soldiers.
Kisumu All Stars will next face Bankers KCB while Ulinzi Stars turn their attention to Sofapaka who they face in matchweek two.
