Kenya Premier League side Tusker FC have roped in former Gor Mahia midfielder Humphrey Mieno and fleet-footed attacker George “Blackberry” Odhiambo.
The two have been training with the Ruaraka based side and have apparently been impressive all through.
They were part of the Tusker FC squad that beat Ulinzi Stars 2-1 in a friendly played at the Ruaraka grounds on last week on July 31st.
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has now tied the two with contracts that will see them make part of the brewers squad next season.
“We have completed the signing of [Humphrey] Mieno and [George] Odhiambo, they are experienced players who will help us do better in the 2019/20 season,” Said Matano as quoted by Goal.
“They are proven winners who know what to do to help the team win. They will be helpful especially to our youngsters who are aiming at developing in the game. We are privileged as a team to have them come on board and be part of us.
“There are a few weeks left before the window closes, and we might be adding a few individuals in the team. This season we want to be competitive and have a say in the league and the best way to do that is by being consistent.”
George Blackberry’s contract at Champions Gor Mahia ran down and despite waiting for an extension from the club, none came by.
Humphrey Mieno on the other hand terminated his contract with Ethiopian giants St. Georges FC. Mieno joined the Addis Ababa based club in January 2019 from Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia, penning a two-year deal with the club. However, six months into his contract, the central midfielder opted to walk out after reaching a mutual agreement with the club.
Tusker will begin their KPL campaign against defending Champions Gor Mahia as the brewers seek to lift their 12th title.
