Manchster United have agreed a deal to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The 27-year-old France international is into the final 12 months of his contract at Juventus and has been seen a suitable fit to bolster United’s midfield. The Red Devils have grown frustrated in their attempts to sign a midfielder with the pursuit of Frenkie De Jong semmingly looking like a goose chase.
United had reached an €85million (£71.5m, $86.6m) agreement with Barcelona to sign De Jong, although issues over the Dutchman’s deferred salary at Camp Nou and whether he wanted a move to Old Trafford were unresolved.
On Sunday, Barcelona president Joan Laporta reiterated a desire to keep De Jong and the Netherlands international’s desire to stay.
United will now need to agree personal terms with Rabiot before the deal is formalized.
