Just days after showing their technical bench led by head coach Fred Ambani the door, KPL moneybags Wazito FC have identified their next coach with the team set to confirm the same soon.
According to reports from the Wazito camp, the club has settled on former Sofapaka head coach Melis Medo.
The American-Egyptian will be tasked with turning things around at Wazito, a team that has only tasted victory once since their return to the Kenyan topflight. Wazito currently lies 13th on the KPL log having won 1, drew 3 and lost 2 of it’s first 6 games in the KPL.
Medo will fly in to take charge of things at Wazito with his official unveiling expected to take place this week. He will watch Wazito’s next game against Mail Men Posta Rangers at the Narok Stadium.
Medo started his managerial career in Kenya at Mt. Kenya United, formerly Nakumatt Fc. He joined the team as a fitness trainer before being made head coach. Under him, the club maintained it’s topflight status.
He then joined Sofapaka where he did not have a great season as he was sacked after seven matches having only won one of those.
From Sofapaka, he returned to Mt. Kenya United but things did not go his way as the cash strapped club was relegated from the KPL.
