West Ham United have triggered the release clause of Maxwell Cornet from Burnley. The release clause is thought to be around £17.5 million.
The hammers we thought to have initially proposed a loan deal but plans changed and they are now set to complete a permanent transfer. Cornet joined Burnley from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €15 million.
His 9 goals and 1 assist in 26 Premier League appearances were not enough to save Burnley from going down. Cornet is an established international having made 29 appearances for the Ivory Coast.
The Hammers have also agreed a €40 million deal to sign Amadou Onana from Lille but are struggling to agree personal terms with the midfielder preferring to join Everton.
Cornet will be West Ham’s Fifth signing following on from the arrivals of Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Gianluca Scamacca.
