The future of Gor Mahia is bright, this is according to head coach Hassan Oktay who could not hide his admiration and love for Kogallo’s new signings heading into the new KPL season.

The Club recently completed the signing of Tanzanian pair of Singida United keeper David Kissu and winger Dickson Ambundo from Alliance FC.

The Club also signed Dennis Oalo and Curtis Wekesa both from NSL side Nairobi Stima, Tobias Otieno and Abdalla Shira from Sony Sugar and Centre back Elvis Ronack from Nzoia Sugar FC.

Coach Oktay has praised the new arrivals following the mega impact they have had in Kogallo’s Cecafa Kagame Cup Campaign in Rwanda.

Wednesday saw Oktay make nine changes to his matchday one squad. The changes enabled Gor Mahia bag a second consecutive win in the tournament with Boniface Omondi and new catch Dennis Oalo helping Gor cruise to a 2-0 win over AS Port of Djibouti.

With the win, Gor Mahia booked a slot in the quarterfinals with one game to play.

Apart from the win, what impressed coach Oktay most was the display from the new signings.

“All I can say for now is that the new signings are proving their worth,” Said Coach Oktay as quoted by Goal.

“I decided to make nine changes to the team and I am not disappointed because what I have seen is the future of Gor Mahia. The players showed me they can fight like the rest of the squad and I am more than happy.”

The new signings who started in the match against AS Port include goalkeeper David Mapigano, Elvis Ronack, Erick Ombija, Dickson Ambundo and Dennis Oalo.

Coach Oktay could also not hide his joy at winning his second game. He however called on his players to take one game at a time as their main aim in Rwanda is to lift the title.

“It was good to win again because I have always said in Gor Mahia, we play matches to win and not to lose.

“However, I have cautioned my players to take it a game at a time because we want to win the trophy. We will keep working hard and always make sure that in every game we play, we give our best.”
